I hope you all have been baking with me and my last two posts have helped you a little in your cake journey. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please go here so we can bake further!

This is yet another basic and very easy cake recipe. A simple Orange Loaf Cake.

Ingredients

  • Flour 2 cups
  • Baking soda 1 & 1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Eggs 3
  • Sugar (powdered) 1 &1/2 cup
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Orange juice 3/4 cup
  • Orange rind 2 tsp
  • Vanilla essence
  • Evaporated milk (mawa ) 100gm

Method

Sift the first four dry ingredients together and keep aside.

In a bowl blend eggs and powdered sugar thoroughly till fluffy and light. Now add the other ingredients into it as well and blend together preferably in an electric blender.

Now add the dry ingredients that we kept aside in the first step to your batter. Add in 5-6 batches using a spatula by cut and fold.

Grease a tray and bake for forty minutes, or as long as the center is done (check by inserting a pick). Keep for 10 minutes in the baking tray before shifting on the rack.

Your loaf cake is ready.

I have just used powdered sugar to top off the loaf but if you’d like to use icing then that’d be great too. I’ll include a recipe for icing in the next few posts, now that you have mastered basic baking.

Important tip:

  • Don’t use cold eggs for the batter. Room temperature is preferable.

My recipes are mainly for inexperienced cooks who are just learning the ways of kitchen so if any you would like me to elaborate on any particular kitchen technique or post a specific recipe, please feel free to put in a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

This is all for now. Have a blessed week. Happy Cooking 🙂
